Evaluation of numerical analysis of artificial organs

In collaboration with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, conducts research by performing model experiments on blood flow through artificial organs and blood vessels (Waseda), analyzing the results of experiments (both universities), and applying results in clinically (Shanghai).

Joint management systems engineering program with Khon Kaen University (Thailand)

Joint internships with students and professors of the partner university’s industrial engineering department. Project requiring presentation of proposal for concrete improvement facility utilization ratio.

The Japan-China Technological Exchange of Shield-driven Tunneling

In collaboration with academician Wang Meng shu (Professor of Beijing Jiaotong University), conducts research announcements, debates, and site visits in Japan and China. To date, events have been held six times (in Nagaoka, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing and Tokyo). The next will be held in Xi’an in 2013. Each event involves 200-300 participants.

Studies on adoption of port and harbor steel structures, such as in Vietnam

In cooperation with the University of Transport and Communications, Hanoi and the Japan Iron and Steel Federation, provides guidance to researchers and students from Vietnam while extending research guidance on ocean development and seismic design methods in various areas of Vietnam.

Organizer/Co-organizer of the International Symposium on East Asian Resources Recycling Technology (EARTH)

Professor Emeritus Taneomi Harada established the world’s first conference on resource recycling, extending calls to Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and China.

Angkor Monuments Conservation and Restoration Project

As a member of the Japanese Government Team for Safeguarding Angkor (headed by Takeshi Nakagawa), studies stone material from a petrological perspective with the aim of conservation and restoration.

Joint seminar with the Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Informatics, Cheng Siu University, Taiwan

Concluded an inter/intra-departmental agreement to begin conducting annual joint seminars starting in 2008, alternating the venue between Cheng Siu University and Waseda University. Seminars generally feature 2 lectures by professors and 10 to 12 student research presentations.
