International Urban Design Workshop

Workshop sponsored by Department of Architecture, Waseda University, Faculty of Architecture, University of Ferrara, and the Faculty of Environmental Design, University of California, Berkeley

Joint workshop with MIT’s School of Architecture and Planning.

Lodging together at sites in Japan’s regional cities, students from Japan and the U.S. developed and presented architectural and urban plans for those cities.

International research cooperation between universities and cities on environmental restoration

Research studies regarding sustainable cities and restoration of regional environments. Conducted in cooperation with institutions such as the University of Pennsylvania, Harvard University, Leiden University, Utrecht University and Yale University.

Research and development of next-generation artificial hearts

Substantially advanced research and development of a Japanese next-generation artificial heart (EVAHEART) in collaboration with the Sun Medical Technology Research Corporation, Tokyo Women’s Medical University, and the University of Pittsburgh.

Student exchange program with Case Western Reserve University

Students from CWRU were enrolled in the Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering for a period of 6 weeks during May and June, and students from the Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering were sent to CWRU for 4 weeks in August and September.

“Technical English and Internship” project by GLCA/ACM and Waseda’s Department of Industrial & Management Systems Engineering

For 3 weeks from the end of July, students from the Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering undergo language study and participate in regular lectures at Coe College. Themes include topics such as “determining personnel needed for improving line organization” and “reducing equipment down time.”

Joint program with the University of Michigan

Language study and interviews with American companies. Students prepare presentations on themes such as comparison of U.S. and Japanese companies.
